Abstract
PURPOSE:To swell a rolling roll drum for the purpose of reducing the tickness variation due to a declination of mill stiffness, by determining the swelling amount of roll drum correspondingly to the variation of bending rigidity of the roll caused by a key set in the roll neck. CONSTITUTION:The preset roll gap is designated by S0 and the mill's feed-in side sheet thickness is designated by H; when the roll is free from the influence of the key, and the rolling load is P1, the mill's run-out side sheet thickness is designated by h1; when the key is at a position just receiving the rolling load, the rolling load is reduced by DELTAP and becomes P2 the run-out side sheet thickness increases by DELTAh and becomes h2. Accordingly, for the purpose of preventing the declination of the mill stiffness due to the influence of the key, the rolling roll has to be swoollen by DELTAR, that is S0-S0', by setting the roll gap to S0'. Now, if the ordinary mill stiffness is designated by M1, the mill stuffness at the keyed part is designated by M2', and the modulus of elasticity expressed on the plasticity characterisic curve of the rolled material is desinated by K, the swelling amount of the rolling roll is obtained from equations I, II, III.
