Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the exhaust efficiency of the exhaust device for an internal combustion engine by providing a vent hole opened at one end in the vicinity of an exhaust valve in a cylinder head and connecting the other end of the vent hole to the chamber of the predetermined volume, thereby alleviating the impact pressure produced by the exhaust gas.
CONSTITUTION: A vent hole 8 of the predetermined length and diameter opened at one end with an exhaust passage 4 is formed in the vicinity of an exhaust valve 4a at the exhaust passage 4 side of a cylinder head 2, and the other end of the vent hole 8 is communicated with a chamber of the predetermined volume mounted together with a head cover 10 on the top of a cylinder head 2. Accordingly, when an engine starts an exhaust stroke so that the valve 4a is opened, high pressure burnt gas ejects in a supersonic state in to the passage 4, thereby producing an exhaust gas pressure vibration, which is suppressed by introducing a part of the burnt gas through the vent hole into the chamber 9. In this manner, the pressure state at the rear side of the valve 4a is alleviated, thereby smoothening the exhaust of the gas.
