Abstract

PURPOSE: 3-Nitropyrrole, as a starting material, is subjected to direct chlorination reaction to produce SF-2080A substance used as an antimycotic in one stage through easier production operations and simpler purification than in the fermentation process.
CONSTITUTION: 3-Nitropyrrole is made to react with a chlorinating agent such as sulfuryl chloride or chlorine in an inert solvent 0W30°C for 2W20hr to produce 2,3-dichloro-4-nitropyrrole, the same compound as the antibiotic SF-2080A substance, which has been separated from the culture mixture of an Actynomycetes. The solvent and other volatile substances, are removed from the reaction mixture by evaporation under reduced pressure and the residue is subjected to silica-gel chromatography and recrystallization to give the objective compound of high purity.
USE: Medicines, Veterinary drugs, agricultural chemicals, fungicide and desinfectant.
