Abstract

PURPOSE:To record information in an accurate format, by recording a tracking signal for information recording and reproduction on a recording medium previously and recording the information over tracking control. CONSTITUTION:On a tape base 11, a metallic film 12 is formed and in this film 12, tracking signal 13 ar recorded in parallel by making pits or holes. The tracking signals 13 are reproduced by scanning a conductive reproducing head on a ferrodielectric material 14 formed on the metallic film 12 and by detecting variations in elecrtrostatic capacity between the reproducing head and metallic film 12, i.e., differences in electrostatic capacity between recess parts of the metallic film 12 and the flat part. Therefore, recording is performed over tracking control on the basis of the tracking signals, so that the recording and reproduction in the accurate format.
