Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable sure noncontacting detection for failures of edge boundary part, by irradiating a slit light flux to the edge boundary of a circular member in rotation, receiving the transmitted light and converting it into an electric signal, and processing it electrically. CONSTITUTION:While rotating a circular member, a slit light flux is irradiated on the ridge boundary part, the transmitted light is received and it is converted into an electric signal, and it is processed electrically, allowing to pick up the signal corresponding to failures of the ridge boundary part. For example, to a ridge boundary part 10c of a circular member 10 placed on a rotating stand 12, a slit light flux is irradiated by using a generating device 26, a boundary signal corresponding to dark and light boundary position produced on a photoelectric detecting array 32 is produced at a circuit 36 with the transmitted light. Each boundary signal obtained while the rotating stand rotates once, is compared at a circuit 24 to detect the production of failures. Thus, automatic inspection is made without contacting and optically, allowing to inspect fine failures surely.
