Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve fuel consumption of an exhaust-gas recirculating type internal combustion engine, by providing a mechanism for delaying transmission of negative pressure that has a function to delay transmission of negative pressure in both of normal and reverse direcrions, and thereby restricting fuel supply at the time of re- accelerating the engine immediately after the engine is once decelerated after acceleration.
CONSTITUTION: An EGR (exhuast-gas-recirculation) control valve 18 for opening and closing an exhuast-gas recirculating passage 20 is constructed in a diaphragm structure, and a negative pressure controlled by an exhuast pressure control valve 25 and a recirculation control means 54 is introduced into a diaphragm chamber 23 of the valve 18. A diaphragm chamber 59 of the recirculating control means 54 is connected via a passave 63 to a diaphragm chamber 52 of an air-fuel ratio control valve 49. Here, two delay mechanisms 67a, 67b operated in opposite directions to each other are connected in series at a portion of a negative-pressure transmitting passage 68 which connects a port 64 of a carburetor 16 to a passage 63 extended between the two diaphragm chambers 59 and 52. With such an arrangement, it is enabled to keep the recirculation control means 54 and air-fuel ratio control valve 49 in their closed state at the time of deceleration and subsequent acceleration, so that fuel consumption of the engine can be improved.
