Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a stable recording thin film having scratch resistance and uneasy penetration of O2 and water vapor, by providing the 1st protective film made of rubberlike high polymer on the recording thin film on a substrate, and providing the 2nd protective film on organic macromolecular polymer without using solvent on it. CONSTITUTION:A thin film 2 on which information is recorded through hole processing by laser light irradiation, is formed on a substrate 1 made of glass disc or the like, by vapor-depositing Te. Next, the 1st protective film 3 is formed by a rubberlike transparent high polymer film such as liquid urethane rubber and silicon rubber. Next, the 2nd protective film 4 is formed by using an organic high polymer which can be formed without using a solvent such as light-curing epoxy resin and acrylic resin to make an optical recording medium. It can be formed on the film 4 for a hard protective film by forming an SiO2 film through electron beam vapor- deposition. The 1st protective film 3 does not increase a laser beam output required for recording, and the 2nd protective film 4 guards the film 2 from mechanical and chemical damages, allowing to obtain excellent recording with high density without expanding the film 3 at the formation of the film 4.
