Abstract

PURPOSE:To form multicolor picture of more than three colors at a high quality, by making latent images at levels of electric potentials corresponding to at least three different colors on the electrostatic latent image carrier, and by developing and fixing each part corresponding to each potential. CONSTITUTION:A gradation potential supplying means 2 is installed in the direction in which an electrostatic recording paper 1 is transferred, so that the means 2 faces to the surface of the recording paper 1. Moreover, the gradation potential supplying means 2 is composed of a controlling circuit 21 and a multistylus 22, and levels of electric potential which are different by color are given to the multistylus 22 from a gradation potential supplying circuit 21. A developing machine 4 and a fixing apparatus paired for each color are installed behind the gradation potential supplying means 2 in the direction in whih the electrostatic recording paper 1 is transferred, so that they may face to the recording paper 1. In this way, gradation potentials are given to the electrostatic latent image carrier over both polarities, positive and negative, and the difference in the gradation potentials can be set to large levels, and thus, colored pictures of high qualities can be obtained.
