Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:1,25-Dihydroxyvitamin D3-26,23-lactone of the formula.
USE: It has an activity of controlling the level of 1α,25-dihydroxycholecarciferol in vivo and is expected to be used as a medicine.
PREPARATION: A toxically permissible amount of 1α-hydroxyvitamin D3 or 1α, 25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 are given orally, intravenously or intramuscularly to rats or dogs. After 2W50hr, the fat-soluble part of the plasma from the rats or dogs is subjected to column chromatography or high-speed liquid chromatography to isolate the objective compound as a metabolite of the vitamin D3 given.
