PURPOSE:To obtain a device which has a simple structure and can be manufactured easily, and to obtain a stable reproducing output, by providing a notch part for controlling the track width of an erase head, and a notch part for controlling the track width of a recording and reproducing head, on a common core part. CONSTITUTION:On a common center part 3 where a recording and reproducing magnetic head and an erase head are constituted, a notch part 5 for controlling the erase track width, and noth part 4, 4' for controlling the recording and reproducing track width are provided. Accordingly, an erase magnetic circuit controlled by these notch parts, and a recording and reproducing magnetic circuit having a prescribed recording and reproducing gap are formed in one body on the same head. In this way, since the end part being adjacent to the recording track is erased exactly, a stable reproducing output is obtained at the time of reproduction. Also, this head device is manufactured easily because of its simple structure, and the accuracy of size is also elevated.
