Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the breaking of ingot which occurs when bending is straightened, by connecting split mold elements which are in axial symmetry, and by sinstalling a driving gear to one end of a guide which holds a plurality of the split mold elements under a straight or slightly curved condition, and then, by installing a damping gear to the other end, so that the solidifying section is maintained under a linear or slightly curved condition. CONSTITUTION:Tooth forms 5 and 5' are formed on the rear of plural mold elements 4 and 4' split into two in axial symmetry, and the elements are connected endlessly at the rear so that they rotate freely. Elements 4 and 4' which are a part of the endless elements, are connected to each other through a space between guides 6 and 6'. Driving gears 7 and 7' are installed to one end of guides 6 and 6' and damping gears 8 and 8' are installed to the other end, so that elements 4 and 4' delivered from guides 6 and 6' are damped and prought into close contact with each other. Elements 4 and 4' passed through the damping gears 8 and 8' are split and moved toward the driving gears 7 and 7'. In this way, a mold which moves from the driving gears 7 and 7' side to the damping gears 8 and 8' side, is formed, and the molten metal is poured into the mold from the driving gears 7 and 7' side, and then, solidified ingots (a) are taken out from the damping gears 8 and 8' side.
