Abstract

PURPOSE: To minimize fuel consumption by controlling rotational frequency of a main engine on the basis of deviation of current ship speed value from set ship speed value and blade angle of a propeller on the basis of the optimum efficiency function and marine load characteristic function of propeller obtained from the set ship speed value.
CONSTITUTION: Ship speed measured by a ship speed meter mounted on the ship is signalled by a ship speed generator 2. When value of the ship speed is larger than that set on a ship speed setting dial 1, rotational frequency of a main engine is reduced by a rotational frequency control 3 and, if smaller than that, increased reversely. Next, a rack sacle for the rotational frequency is determined by a generator 6 for comparing function of a marine load characteristic function generator 5 with that of an optimum propeller efficiency function generator 4 for seeking the optimum propeller efficiency for the set ship speed to generate minimum fuel characteristic function, and compared with current rack signal from a rack scale generator 7 to control blade angle of the propeller with a variable picth propeller blade angle control 8.
