Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent a glass from being stuck to inscribed lines of a stem, by applying a metal layer principally made of nickel including some other impurity on the surface of inscribed lines of a stem, then fusing the stem glass to mold the stem. CONSTITUTION:A metal layer principally made of nickel and also containing, carbon 0.007-0.02%, and manganese 0.2-0.3% is applied on the surface of the inscribed lines 1a of welds 1. Such welds 1 are supported by a metal mold 4 and an exhaust pipe 3 is inserted into the central opening part of the metal mold 4, while a cylindrical sealing glass 2 being placed on it. Afterwards, the exhaust pipe 3 and the sealing glass 2 are thermo-fused by burners 6, 8, 9, finally to mold a stem by another metal mold. In this case, uniform fine foams are generated on the interface between the inscribed lines and the glass, and the glass is peeled off from the inscribed lines. Thereby, a good shape of stem which do not stick unnecessary glass to the inscribed lines of the stem can be obtained.
