Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve sensitization effect and mechanical durability by forming a photoconductive layer made by coating the surfaces of ZnO particles beforehand with a polyvinyl acetal (PVAC) resin contg. a sensitizing dye and dispersing the same in a binder of a polyisocyanate compound. CONSTITUTION:ZnO powder for electrophotography is added in a soln. of a sensitizing dye such as rose bengal and a PVAC resin to adsorb the dye on the surfaces, after which the powder is filtered and dried. A mixture of such powder and an isocyanate compound alone or a binder soln. prepd. by causing an acrylic resin or the like and an isocyanate compound to react is coated on a conductive substrate and is dried, whereby a photoconductive layer is formed. The resultant electrophotographic receptor is prevented of degradation in the sensitizing dye, has strong bond between the binder and ZnO, is improved in both electrical characteristics and mechanical strength, has good durability and provides excellent images.
