Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the influence exercised by a noise, to improve a position-locating accuracy, and to eliminate a danger of mislocating, by a method wherein, after acoustic signals are envelope-detected, they are integrated. CONSTITUTION:Acoustic transformers are placed at opposite ends of a stationary object positioned facing and opposite to a rotary object, a projection is formed on the rotary object, and a gap sensor, which detects a rotary pulse through the projection, is installed. When rubbing is produced, a waveform, in which an acoustic signal R synchrinizing with the rotary pulse and a noise signal N having no synchronism are overlapped, is observed in acoustic signals VAE<1>, and VAE<2> detected at opposite ends of a casing. After the acoustic signals VAE<1> and VAE<2> are first envelope-detected, they are integrated. If the acoustic signals so integrated are caused to pass a comparator to generate a pulse, a pulse is produced in only a rubbing waveform, and DELTAt4 and DELTAt5, being not influenced by a noise, are measured. From said DELTAt4 and DELTAt5, an acoustic generating source, or a contact position Xi is determined by an equasion i=DELTAtiV/2, where V is the propagating speed of the acoustic signal.
