PURPOSE: To make stable the discriminating operation of SECAM signals different in frequencies alternately for every horizontal scanning line, by picking up color subcarrier of back porch in a horizontal synchronizing signal and frequency-discriminating the harmonics of this subcarrier for every horizontal scanning line.
CONSTITUTION: A monostable multivibrator 4 is triggered at the front edge of an inputted horizontal synchronizing pulse 20 to output a pulse 22 having a prescribed pulse width (a), a monostable multivibrator 6 is triggered with the rear edge of the pulse 22 to output a burst gate pulse 24 in pulse width (b). This pulse width (b) is taken for sufficient width to pick up a subcarrier 26 and the pulse 24 is applied to a gate circuit 8. On the other hand, a color TV signal is inputted to a BPF12, and the color signal rejecting luminance signal is inputted to the circuit 8 via a limiter 14. The subcarrier is picked up from the color signal, the result passes through a BPF16 in which the center frequency has three times or more spectrum of the subcarrier 26, the output is applied to a frequency discrimination circuit 18 to make the discrimination of the SECAM signal stable.
