Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent unnecessary application of pressure to a diaphragm by putting the working chambers in communication to each other with a through hole provided in the diaphragm for penetration of tie rod when the pressure in one of the working chambers is higher than the other, and thereby balancing the two chambers in terms of pressure.
CONSTITUTION: A through hole 32, for penetration of a tie rod 30 connecting the front and rear walls of the shell 1, shall be open at the front surface 3C of a piston diaphragm 3, which is separable from a booster piston 2. The part surrounding the through hole 32 at the front surface 3C of piston diaphragm shall be set close to, but separable from, the rear end 46C of an expansion boot 46 enclosing the periphery of the tie rod 30. If the pressure in No.1 working chamber A is higher than that in No.2 working chamber B, part of the residual air in N0.1 working chamber A intrudes between the rear surface of the booster piston 2 and the front surface 3C of piston diaphragm to press said part surrounding the through hole 32 at the front surface 3C of piston diaphragm in the direction to separate from the rear end 46C of expansion boot 46, so that a gap is produced between these two and the chamber A and B are put in communication to each other.
