Abstract

PURPOSE: To perform titled relining safely by mounting a main pipe having a branch pipe to the shell of a blast furnace, piercing a through-hole with a piercer mounted to the main pipe then feeding castable refractories by pressure from the branch pipe.
CONSTITUTION: A sluice valve 4 is opened, and while the blade tip 7 of a piercer is rotated by compressed air 10, a body 8 is advanced to pierce a through-hole 12 in the furnace wall. Upon ending of the piercing, the body 8 is retreated, the valve 8 is closed and a hose 13 for feeding shapeless refractories by pressure is mounted to the valve 5 of a branch pipe 3. The castable refractories controlled to a suitable viscosity are fed from the hose 13 by pressure into the furnace through the hole 12. The refractories form the refractories 14 stuck to the inside of the furnace and are dried and set by the heat retained by the furnace and this ends the relining. At this time, N2 is fed to the piercer 6 from an N2 supply pipe 11 to seal the furnace from the outside.
