Abstract

PURPOSE:To realize a VTR with a compact, light-weight and thin-gage structure, installing the unified capstan motor and reel motor between a pair of reels and at the same time simplifying a loading mechanism. CONSTITUTION:A capstan motor that drives a capstan to feed a tape in a constant speed in the recording and reproducing times is unified with a reel motor that drives reels 20 and 21 in the fast forwarding and rewinding times into a motor 17. This motor 17 is installed between the reels 20 and 21. A capstan 15 is driven by a capstan belt 23; and the reels 20 and 21 are driven by an idler 19. On the other hand, flexible racks 26 and 27 that engage guide post members 24 and 25 and then move are used in the tape loading mechanism. These racks 26 and 27 are moved synchronously with each other by a pinion 28. In addition, the motor 17 plus the tape loading mechanism are made flat in structure to decrease the thickness of a rotary head cylinder 14 along with application of a direct drive system.
