Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve durability, etc., by providing a magnetic layer on the surface of a nonmagnetic supporting material and providing a back layer, where fiber resin, thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer, saturated polyester resin, and a polyisocyanate are added as a binder and inorganic powder is included, on the reverse face. CONSTITUTION:In a magnetic tape for audio, video, etc., a coating material where 10-400pts.wt. inorganic powder (grain size 0.1-1mu) such as CaCO3 powder is kneaded and dispersed in methyl ethyl ketone for 100pts.wt. of the total quantity of 20-80pts.wt. fiber resin such as nitrocellulose, 20-50pts.wt. thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer, 1-20pts.wt. saturated polyester resin (copolycondensate of various dibasic acid and various dihydric alcohol), and 10-50pts.wt. polyisocyanate is coated and dried on the facd opposite to the face provided with a magnetic layer of a nonmagnetic supporting material to form a back layer. Thus, running durability is improved without lowering of S/N, and the surface of the magnetic layer is not damaged, and a tape superior in electromagnetic characteristics is obtained.
