Abstract

PURPOSE:To simplify measuring of a speed and a distance, by a method wherein a reference signal, received at a reference point by a moving object, is produced into a serial signal by means of a gate circuit, a delay element, and a feedback circuit, and a signal, received at a current spot by the moving object, is compared with a phase. CONSTITUTION:Sampling of a reference signal is conducted through the reception of a signal, such as ultrasonic waves, from the bottom of the sea in a capsule above the water. The signal is inputted to a gate circuit G and is controlled by a clock circuit to produce a signal a having a width DELTAt. The signal is inputted to a delay element d to provide a delay by the DELTAt again to produce a serial signal b. After said sampling is completed, the capsule starts to fall, a phase difference between a signal c, sent from the bottom of the sea and received at a current spot, and the signal b is found by means of a phase difference comparison circuit to find the speed of the capsule, and a phase difference is integrated to find a moving distance. This eliminates the need for an equipment, transmitting a reference signal from a mother ship, and as a result, permits the constitution of a simple device.
