Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance denitrification activity in a wide temp. range by using a composite formed by compounding each oxide of niobium, vanadium and titanium in a specific mole ratio as a nitrogen oxide reducing catalyst.
CONSTITUTION: (Nb2O5)B and (TiO2)C are added to and kneaded with (V2O5)B in a mole ratio of A/B=0.01W34.2, (A+B)/C=6.0×10-4W4.0×10-2 and the resultant kneaded mixture is molded into a desired shape and dimension and, thereafter, the molded object is baked to prepare a composite. For example, 97pts. titanium dioxide, 1.3pts. ammonium metavanadate and 2.8pts. niobium hydroxide are kneaded and the resultant kneaded mixture is subject to extrusion molding to form a pillar like form and, after the molded object is dried at 110°C, it is baked at 500°C for 3hr to obtain a catalyst. The obtained catalyst shows high denitrification activity in a relatively wide temp. range and low in SO2 oxidizing activity.
