Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate the effect of noises, to reduce the measuring time and to improve the accuracy by adapting a photon counter to provide only pulses included within a threshold. CONSTITUTION:A signal light 31 enters a photomultiplier 33 via a chopper 32. The output pulses of the photomultiplier 33 are sent to a counter 34 and are counted in synchronism with a chopper signal 41 through the pulses of a pulse generator 35. The output 39 of the counter 34 is sent to a threshold circuit 43 and compared with the threshold to send out only pulses included within the threshold. The output pulses are integrated by an integrator 36 for an appropriate number of repetitions, then a signal 42 is provided. Thus the effect of noises is eliminated, measuring time is reduced and the accuracy is improved.
