Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent an electric shock and to improve corrosion resistance by installing a movable magnet opposite to an optical fiber at the inside of an airthight cylinder and thermoferrite at the outside of it for the detection of a water level and temperature in a bathtub. CONSTITUTION:Inside of an airtight cylinder 2 made of a nonmagnetic material forming a sensor part, a magnet 3 is installed vertically movably opposite to an optical fiber 1. The magnet 3 is so magntized that it attracts and drives a magnetic body 4b in a float 4 moving up and down around the cylinder 2. A magnet flank 3a is finished as a mirror surface and as the magnetic body 4b, thermoferrite or the like whose magnetic resistance increases greatly at 50-60 deg.C. Then, as the level of water wherein the sensor part like this is installed rises, the flat 4 and magnet 3 rise and variations of emitted light Li from the fiber and its return light Lr are detected. A rise in water temperature is detected as a decrease in the return light Lr as a result of the falling of only the magnet 3. The falling of the water level due to the loosening of a spigot is also detected.
