CONSTITUTION:In a serial ink jet printer having an printing area, a stand-by position, a home position, when the ink het head 13 moves to the home position with the end of printing operation, the nozzle part 13' of the head 13 is coated with a sleeve 10 with which a cleaning liquid supply pipe 11, a collection pipe 12 are connected. Next, the cleaning liquid is jetted from the cleaning liquid supply pipe 11 to clean the point of the nozzle 13'.
