Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the stability of a relief valve at a high temperature by constructing the relief valve such that a pilot throttle almost in an orificelike shape is established between both abutting portions of a pilot poppet and a plunger upon relief operation so as to prevent a rate of vent-flow from being excessively increased.
CONSTITUTION: When fluid pressure transmitted from a pump port P through a through hole 23 to a pilot chamber 16 exceeds a value set by a spring 35, a pilot poppot 31 is forcedly separated from a valve seat 36, allowing a differential pressure corresponding to a rate of vent-flow through the hole 23 to be generated between the port P and the chamber 16. The leftward displacement of the plunger 20 overcoming a spring 22 due to the differential pressure causes both abutting portions 38, 41 of the poppet 31 and the plunger 20 to define therebetween a pilot throttle 44. Simultaneously, a main poppet 8 is displaced leftwards overcoming a spring 11 under action due to the combination of the difference between the left and right effective pressure areas of the main poppet 8 with the above-mentioed differential pressure so that the pump port P is opened to a tank port T for discharging fluid pressure into the tank port T.
