Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare the titled composition giving a polyurethane having improved physical properties at a low cost, without using the treating process after acid neutralization, by modifying crude polyol containing residual alkaline catalyst with urea, etc.
CONSTITUTION: (A) Crude poly(oxyalkylene)polyol (e.g. adduct of ethylene glycol and alkylene oxide) is charged e.g. into a rotary evaporator, mixed with (B) urea or urea and an amine compound (pref. a diamine compound such as p-toluene- diamine), and made to react pref. under reduced pressure. Ammonia is pref. removed from the system sufficiently by stripping, and the precipitate such as inorganic materials is removed e.g. by treating with chloroform, etc. to obtain the objective polyol composition. The reaction temperature is pref. 130W200°C, and the urea is used pref. in excess.
