Abstract
PURPOSE: To produce a metallic welded pipe which is adaptable for general purposes with good efficiency by subjecting a metallic plate to edge bending, U forming, square groove forming, tack welding and welding then to O press forming by the use of semicylindrical punches and plate dies.
CONSTITUTION: Semicylindrical punches 3A, 3B and support shafts 2A, 2B are set to a prescribed spacing, that is, the spacing between female die plates 5A, 5B, then a metal plate 12 to be worked is disposed. The plate 12 is grasped by pressure between the plates 5A, 5B and the punches 3A, 3B, and is edge-bent by moving a support plate 15A. Thence, the straight part 13 of the plate 12 is bent by moving the shafts 2A, 2B and the plates 5A, 5B to bring the plate ends closer to the shafts 2A, 2B and to form. Thence, the formed square groove is tack-welded, after which it is subjected to the regular welding. This welded pipe body is pressed between a pair of semicircular dies, whereby it is corrected with roundness of prescribed radius and sraightness.
