Abstract

PURPOSE:To quickly and simply replace an upper roll, by arranging an rotary spacer to be interposed between upper and lower rolls in each metal chock of the upper roll on its operating and driving both sides, and by arranging a turning hendle for turning down this spacer on the operating side. CONSTITUTION:In case of replacing an upper intermediate roll 7, a handle 14 attached to a metal chock 3 of the upper intermediate roll 7 is moved in the axial direction shown by an arrow mark II. As a result, a connecting rod 13 is moved in the same direction so that a spacer 11 of the metal chock 13 is clockwise turned around a pin 12, and a gap required in replacing the roll is formed between the metal chocks 3, 4. Then, a spacer 11 of a metal chock 3 on the driving side is similarly turned around to stand up by an axial movement of the rod 13. Under this condition, the roll 7 is travelled upon a rail by wheels, etc., installed in the metal chocks 3, and is replaced. A member designated by a numeral 8 shows an upper work roll.
