Abstract

PURPOSE: A metal carbonate with a large ion diameter is added to coal ash of high alumina content and melted, then the product is thoroughly washed with water and dried to produce the objective artificial boiling stones.
CONSTITUTION: A coal ash rich in alumina such as ash of "Akahira" coal or "Shimizuzawa" coal is combined with a metal carbonate of a large ion diameter such as sodium carbonate or strontium carbonate and they are melted. Then, the product is thrown in water and the resultant solid is washed with water and dried to produce boiling stones.
