Abstract

PURPOSE: To automatically perform centering by fixing a work in case a surface plate ascends and fixing said surface plate in case it descends.
CONSTITUTION: A positioning hole 2 is made in a work 1, while a positioning pin 16 is installed on an upper surface plate 15 which is connected, through a parallel supporting device 14 and flexible joint 18, to a lower surface plate 13 going up and down along a guide pin 11 by a lift device 10. When both upper and lower surface plates ascend with operation of the lift device 10, the guide pin 11 separates from a guide hole 17 of the upper surface plate 15, which becomes swingable in the horizontal direction, and further, the positioning pin 16 is fitted into the positioning hole 2. Upon removal of what supported the work 1 till then, the upper and the lower surface plates descend with the work 1 placed on them. The guide pin 11 is then fitted into the guide hole 17 as before and the surface plates as well as the work are positioned.
