Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a means to change the cutting conditions in the middle of cutting by correcting the position of a half or table by the amount corresponding to the trace lag of a table drive according to the speed change ratio of the hot rotation speed in an NC hobbing machine.
CONSTITUTION: When making more than two cutting or rough cutting V and finish cutting W a tracking lag occurs due to the difference of the cutting speeds and the change of the feeding direction. The speed difference between the rough cutting and finish cutting causes substantial tracking lag at a table drive motor which can be eliminated by hob shift or turning of a work table. The hob shift is moving of a hob cutter in axial direction the amount of which can be pre-calculated with the data and the hob shift is made by separating the cutter and the work after the rough cutting thereby changing the cutting conditions in the middle cutting.
