Abstract
PURPOSE:To protect a transmission tube without interrupting transmission by connecting a resistance having a resistance value equal to the impedance of the transmission tube in series to a spark gap, and connecting the series circuit thereof in parallel with the transmission tube. CONSTITUTION:When a mis-fire occurs in a magnetron 9, and the applied voltage rises to about 2 times the ordinary applied voltage, a spark gap 10 operates thereby protecting the magnetron 9 and a pulse transformer 6 against anomalous voltage. At this time a resistance 14 is connected in series to the spark gap 10 and therefore load short-circuiting does not occur, and since the resistance value of the resistance 14 is selected equal to the impedance of the magnetron 9, the load viewed from a pulse generating circuit 8 is constant, and the source current and clipper current do not increase, and a source current protecting circuit 2 and a clipper current protecting current 13 do not operate. Hence, the transmission is not interrupted.
