Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide an alloy member showing excellent performance as a cutting tool comprising coating a super-hard alloy matrix material with Al2O3 in an outer layer and a secific solid solution in an inner layer. CONSTITUTION:A super-hard alloy is used as a matrix material and a coating layer comprising an inner and an outer two layers is formed on said matrix material. In the outer layer, Al2O3 is used and a thickness thereof is adjusted to 0.5-2.5mu. Further, as the inner layer, a solid solution shown by a formula Ti (C1-xNx) is used as well as x and y is 0.35<=x<=0.6, pref. 0.45<=x<=0.55 and a thickness of a Ti (C, N) layer is adjusted to 2.5-10mu. Further, in the alumina layer, Ti, Zr, Cr, Si, or the like which are known as a solid solution element may be added thereto.
