Abstract
PURPOSE: To efficiently solidify materials having no opened part, such as rims for wheel, etc., by a pressure-die casting, by fitting an extended part installed on one mold member in the sprue of the other mold member, and by inserting a core and an insert in the former mold member.
CONSTITUTION: One mold member 3 and another mold member 4 with a shell core 4a at its extended part 18 are set. When a gas is supplied into a melting tank 10 through a gas tube 11 while a pressure punch 6 is being lifted, the molten metal is supplied into a cavity 13 of the mold member 3. In this case, since a narrow clearance is formed between the extended portion 18 and a sprue 9, solidification in the sprue 9 is completed at the initial stage. When the pressure punch 6 is lowered with a pressure at this moment, the unsolidified molten metal in the cavity 13 will surely be solidified under a prescribed pressure condition.
