Abstract

PURPOSE: To automatically and accurately compensate a tool, by using a contact sensor to measure the dimension of a workpiece, calculating the difference between the machined dimension and a command and adding the difference to a tool compensation quantity to compensate the tool.
CONSTITUTION: Compensation quantities for tools are stored into a memory 14 from a keyboard 12 or a paper tape 13. After some machining, the dimension of a workpiece is measured by a contact sensor and then stored into the memory 14. The difference between the measured machined dimension and a command is calculated and then stored into the memory 14. For actual machining, the tool is compensated on the basis of the sum of the difference and the compensation quantity stored in the memory 14. The tool is thus automatically and accurately compensated.
