Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a phosphorus ion adsorbent at low cost by subjecting an abundantly available collidal soil composed dominantly of allphane to a baking treatment.
CONSTITUTION: As a phosphorus ion adsorbent to be used in the terminal treatment plant, etc., for polluted water, a colloidal soil composed dominantly of allophane is baked at 130W250°C to burn off organic pollutants, etc., adhered to the surfaces of the soil and then pulverized into fine powder which is used as an adsorbent. The absorbent thus obtained can be manufactured simply and at low cost because the raw material is abundantly available, and serves to prevent pollution and extinction of fish caused by offensive odor polluted water.
