Abstract
PURPOSE: A prepreg which gives excellent properties to honeycomb sandwich panels, prepared by impregnating a fiber with a resin composition comprising an epoxy resin, a reaction product between an epoxy resin and a specified liquid butadiene/acylonitrile copolymer and a nitrile rubber.
CONSTITUTION: A prepreg is prepared by impregnating a fiber with a resin composition comprising an epoxy resin (pref., a mixture of a bisphenol A-derived epoxy resin and a phenol novolak-derived epoxy resin), a reaction product between an epoxy resin which is the same as or different from the above epoxy resin and a liquid butadiene/acrylonitrile copolymer, MW ≥1,000, having carboxyl groups on both terminals, a nitrile rubber and, if necessary, a high-MW epoxy resin, MW ≥10,000. This prepreg, when molded into honeycomb sandwich panels, can impart thereto excellent adhesiveness and high impact strength and bending strength.
