Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase the life of a surface-discharge-type (monolithic) gas electric-discharge panel by enalbing the suppression of the thermal configuration change of a dielectric layer by avoiding the local concentration of the discharge current of the said panel. CONSTITUTION:An insulating film 19 such as a PbO glass layer having parallel arranged V-shaped or reverse-trapezoidal, for example, reverse-trapezoidal grooves 18 is formed on a glass base plate 10. After that, Y-electrodes 11 are provided on the surface of the film 19 so that they cross the grooves 18, and X- electrodes 13 are provided in the above grooves 18 with a dielectric layer 14 also serving as an insulating layer, such as a borosilicate glass layer, interposed between the Y-electrodes 11 and the X-electrodes 13.
