Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the durability and safety of the titled device, to simplify the structure thereof and to save cost by a method wherein a fuel injection valve is provided in an exhaust gas port so that a fuel is injected into an exhaust gas flowing through the port. CONSTITUTION:A fuel injection valve 9 for an electronic control type fuel injection device (EFI) is provided in an exhaust gas port 8. Further, a thermocouple 10 and a glow plug 11 are also provided in the port 8 so that the temperature in the port 8 is detected by the former and the fuel from a valve 9 is easily ignited by the latter which is located in a fuel injection zone. At the same time, the fuel is supplied to a main fuel pipe 6 and a secondary fuel pipe (not shown) by a fuel pump 5 through a pipe (not shown) from a fuel tank. With the above arrangement, the fuel is injected from the valve 9 at a proper time to elevate the temperature in the port 8 and the temperature of the exhaust gas and the fine exhaust gas particles accumulated in a trapper 21 provieed in an exhaust gas pipe are burned to thereby regenerate the trapper 21. In this case, the time of fuel injection from the valve 9 is controled by a microcomputer.
