Abstract

PURPOSE:To determine various vitamins in a specimen qualitatively and quantitatively at one time by making combination use of a gas chromatograph and a mass analyzer, and making mass analysis of the molecular ions specific to the various vitamins. CONSTITUTION:A part of a soln. prepd. by dissolving a sample in an org. solvent is analyzed with a gas chromatograph-mass analyzer. Vitamins are qualitatively and quantitatively analyzed by analyzing the mass numbers of the molecular ions intrinsic to various vitamins. The vitamins are measured accurately in a short time by the mass analysis of 268 mass number with vitamin A (retinol) and vitamin A acetate (retinol acetate), 363 mass number with vitamin D2 (ergosterol), 351 mass number with vitamin D3 (7-dehydrosterol), 430 mass number with vitamin E (alpha-tochopherol) and vitamin E acetate (alpha-tochopherol acetate), 472 mass number and 450 mass number with vitamin K1 (phylloquinone).
