Abstract

PURPOSE: To measure the concentration of a halogen ion or the activity of the halogen ion electrically in a solution to be inspected, by providing a coating layer consisting of a mixture of a specific hydrophobic polymer and specific hydrophilic polymer.
CONSTITUTION: A silver layer is vapor-deposited on a poly(ethylene terephthalate) supporting body and a silver/silver chloride electrode is formed by immersing the surface of said silver layer in a solution of potassium dichromate and hydrochloric acid. A coating layer permeating a halogen ion is formed on the surface of said electrode. This coating layer is made by mixing at least a hydrophobic polymer, polymerized at least one kind of monomer expressed by general formula (I) and at least one kind of polymer of polyamid and ethyl cellulose and a hydrophylic polymer polymerized a monomer expressed by general formula (II), polyethylene glycol and methyl cellulose, etc. R1 is hydrogen atom, an alkyl radical, etc., and R2 is an alkyl radical, a substituted alkyl radical, etc. in the formula (I), and R3 is hydrogen atom, an alkyl radical, etc., and R4 is a 2pyridyl radical, a hydroxy carbonyl radical, etc. in the formula (II).
