Abstract
PURPOSE: To manufacture a structure material having periodicity in two directions at high productivity without causing breakage by forming a plate material using a pair of forming rolls on which tooth form is formed on the surface.
CONSTITUTION: Forming rolls are divided into segments corresponding to individual linear part of tooth form. A herical spur gear 3 and a straight spur gear 4 are passed into a shaft 5 and fixed with keys etc. and assembled to male and female rolls that have the same waveform with the two-directional structure material. When forming a plate material 6 using a pair of forming rolls 7, 8, the wave height or pitch obtained are not dependent on the wave height of the forming rolls 7, 8, but determined by the position where the tooth top touches the material 6. Accordingly, structure materials of different pitch can be formed by changing the depth of engaging of rolls 7, 8 and combination of relative speed of rotation.
