PURPOSE:To surely erase sound at the absence of a signal, by detecting a vertical synchronizing signal from a composite synchronizing signal, converting it into a DC voltage signal, controlling an output of a television signal and discriminating the presence/absence of the television signal. CONSTITUTION:When a normal tlevision signal is applied to an input terminal 1 and inputted to an integration circuit 2, a vertical synchronizing signal component only is picked up and applied to a peak detection circuit 5. An output corresponding to the peak voltage of an integration circuit output is introduced from the peak detection circuit 5 and applied to the base of a PNP transistor 9. In this case, the transistor 9 is non-conductive at the vertical synchronizing signal part, and since a diode 11 is non-conductive accordingly, a control signal zeroing the attenuation is inputted to an electronic attenuator circuit 16 and the audio signal can be outputted without erase. When the input signal is a signal other than the television signal and includes no vertical synchronizing signal, a control signal attenuating sound is applied to the attenuator 16 to erase the audio signal.
