Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase the anti-abrasive property of the titled clutch disk and to obtain a smooth starting characteristics by a method wherein a facing having its frames formed of fibers such as glass fibers or the like excluding asbestos is used. CONSTITUTION:Fibers, for example, glass fibers, steel wool (rock wool) or the like excluding asbestos are used for forming the frames of the facing. These frames are then connected together with a phenol type resin bond to thereby make the annular facing 2 to be fixed to the outer periphery of the clutch disk 1. In practice, when the facing 2 is thrusted against a flywheel 4 by a pressure plate 3, the clutch is connected to the flywheel 4 and a torque is applied on an output shaft 5. In this case, as the facing 2 has a high rate of anti- abrasiveness, the durability thereof is increased. Further, the thrust force applied on the facing by pressure plate 3 increases gradually at the time of clutch connecting operation but the frictional force of the facing 2 with respect to the flywheel 4 increases smoothly in correspondence to the above mentioned thrust force of the pressure plate 3.
