Abstract

PURPOSE:To regulate metallic powder to a normal direction by regulating gaseous flow and to improve the yield of melt sticking by supplying the regulating gas from the front and rear of a conveying gas ejection port for metallic powder. CONSTITUTION:A nontransferred plasma arc 21 is fired between an electrode 2 and an arc restraining nozzle 5 and a transferred plasma arc 9 is fired between the electrode 2 and a base material 19 by the voltages applied from electric power sources 22, 23. Plasma working gaseous flow (a) through a passage 4, regulating gaseous flows (b), (c) through passages 6, 14 and shielding gaseous flow through a passage 17 flow toward the orifice 18 side at the leading end of the torch. At this time, metallic powder 11 of a filler metal is supplied to a supply pipe 10, and is released through an opening 12 to the orifice 18 side by conveying gaseous flow (e). Then, the metallic powder flow is regulated by the two regulating gaseous flows (b), (c) released in the same direction from the front and rear thereof, and is charged into the arc 9 without scattering flow, whereby it is melted. This molten metal goes through the orifice 18 to the molten metal pool 24 on a base material 19 and forms build-up beads 20 successively while solidifying in accordance with the transfer of the torch.
