PURPOSE:To detect a jam accurately by counting clock pulses with the inversion signal of an original placing plate, detecting the presence or absence of copying paper with a paper detector, deciding its delay and stagnation and emitting a jam signal when a jam circuit is held set. CONSTITUTION:An inversion position signal CBBP for an original placing plate is inputted as a set signal to the terminal SD of a flip-flop 344 and a detection signal PDP from a paper detector is inputted from a terminal 341. The jam timing signal JTP generated upon lapse of a time adding a slight allowance for the count number of the clock pulses corresponding to an original size is inputted to an NAND gate 345. With such jam circuit used, the clock pulses are counted by the inversion signal for the original placing plate, and the incoming of the copying paper is detected with the paper detector, whereby its delay and stagnation are decided. when the circuit is hled set, the jam signal is generated. The jam is therefore detected accurately.
