Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance transient response of an engine at the time of quick acceleration by driving an exhaust turbine supercharger auxiliarily by a starter motor and, thereby, providing possibility of controlling the suction of the engine.
CONSTITUTION: One end of the spindle 4 of the starter motor 2 is extened to connect with one end 5a of an electromagnetic clutch 5 and further, through its other end 5b, is connected to the turbo drive shaft 9. A terminal 2a of the motor 2 is connected to the contact A of a selector switch 23, and another input to the terminal 2a is led to the contact B of the selector switch 23 through a voltage control circuit 24. If the engine shall be accelerated quickly, the selector switch 23 is turned to the contact B, when the motor 2 will put the turbo drive shaft 9 into high revolutions with the aid of the electromagnetic clutch 5 to increase the amount of suction, and thus a proper tansient response can be obtained.
