Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the ground around the titled tank from freezing and to secure the safety of the tank by a method wherein pipes are embedded in the ground around the tank and a large quantity of natural sea water is flowed through the pipes according to a natural flow-down system. CONSTITUTION:A water supply pipe 2 and an exhaust pipe 5 are arranged in the ground around the liquefied gas storing underground tank 1. Further, sea water is pumped up into a water supply tank 4 by a water pump 3 and the pumped sea water is flowed around the tank 1 through the water supply pipe 2, a pipe 6 laid under the lower surface of the bottom plate of the tank 3 and the exhaust pipe 5 by providing a head between the ends of the pipes 2 and 5, whereby the ground around the tank 3 is heated by the sea water flowing through the above mentioned pipes as a heat source to thereby prevent the ground from freezing.
