Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable to achieve optimal control on the current supplied to an ignition coil under any circumstances, by controlling current supplying time in a succeeding ignition period on the basis of the current supplying time from the time when current supply is started to the time when the primary current of the ignition coil is increased to a prescribed level.
CONSTITUTION: Current supply to an ignition coil 19 is started from the time instant of a count value CSO. When the current I is increased to a prescribed value IO, a current detecting circuit 24 is set into operation and produces an output signal D. In response to the signal D, a latch circuit 25 latches the count value of a counter 26 at the time instant. On the other hand, a digital computor 10 takes out a count value CDO from the latch circuit 25 in response to the signal D and calculates the time tDO passed during the above while from the count difference CDO-CSO. Then, it calculates the current supplying time and the count value of the next current supplying time promptly from the time tDO and starts current supply to the ignition coil 19 for the next cycle.
